The Shell Egg Academy is a specialized educational program designed to provide professionals in egg production and processing with practical knowledge and industry insights.
(York, Pa., August 25, 2025) York Ag, a dynamic supplier of holistic ingredient solutions that optimize animal well-being, is proud to sponsor the 2025 Shell Egg Academy (SEA) at Purdue University, in West Lafayette, IN (September 9-11, 2025). The SEA offers a unique platform for professionals in the egg production and processing industries to enhance their understanding of egg quality and safety.
The Shell Egg Academy is a three-day training program designed to enhance expertise in egg production and processing. The event combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning, giving participants the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of egg quality, shell egg food safety, sanitation, FDA regulations, foodborne illness prevention, and consumer-driven trends shaping the industry.
“Events like the Shell Egg Academy are vital in helping producers, processors, and industry partners stay ahead of evolving consumer expectations while maintaining the highest standards of safety,” said Emily Goebel, Territory Sales Representative at York Ag and Purdue alumna (Class of 2022).
York Ag believes Everyone Deserves a Nutritious Meal®. In 1998, York Ag launched its first proprietary product called YORK CALCIUM CHIPS®, the egg laying industry’s preferred coarse calcium standard to create a superior eggshell. YORK CALCIUM CHIPS is a cornerstone in layer diets because it is intrinsically related to the formation of an eggshell while supporting skeletal integrity. Having optimal feed calcium levels helps hens replenish their bone reserve while maintaining optimal egg production capabilities.
York Ag also offers ingredient solutions for feed manufacturers, livestock consultants, and animal producers. Its poultry ingredients portfolio includes alternatives that address gut health, respiratory health, stress, parasite and insect challenges, and litter quality. York Ag carries a portfolio of national and international brands that support layers, pullets, broilers, Antibiotic Free (ABF) broilers, No Antibiotic Ever (NAE) broilers, and turkeys.
“The Academy’s focus on both science and practical application mirrors our own approach to delivering innovative, dependable, and effective feed ingredients to the egg production industry,” said Goebel.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States produced about 109.0 billion eggs in 2024 with table eggs at 93.1 billion. Looking ahead, USDA projects 2025 per-capita availability at 258 eggs/person. This steady consumption underscores the ongoing significance of the egg industry in meeting the nutritional needs of the nation and maintaining its role in the U.S. food supply.
